At the very outset, Shane's project confused me. After the many clicks in my Internet browser led me to his project, my speakers suddenly murmered to life with an echoing female voice. This sudden and invited stranger into my room made me jump in my chair and wonder where the uninvited guest came from.
But once I identified the sound from my speakers was coming from the project, I immediately found myself interested. Not only did I want to recognize each of the spoken words, but I also wanted to match the audio with what I was reading on screen. As soon as I did, I realized that there wasn't an echo - there was a second voice, and there was a second, less-noticeable set of text that went with it.
As Shane said in his explanation, the words were inspiring, though I'll argue that they do also apply to our generation. Some things never change.
If anything had to be changed in this project, it would be incorporating the text into Flash and having them appear along with the spoken words. I think that kinetic element would have brought even more life to this piece, and tickled the intellectual part of our brains that love things like metaphors.
The sight of moving and echoing-like text would have made this project absolutely ideal - but only in my opinion. As it stands, it still works perfectly and gets its intended message across.
